Cross-country Mellau
Cross-country enthusiasts can take advantage of over 20 km of especially snow-sure track in lovely Mellau. The tracks, suitable for various skill levels, run along the Bregenzer Ach; both ambitious cross-country skiers and beginners will get their money's worth. Bregenzerwald offers a total of 300 km of track for Nordic fans, and there are also an additional 45 km of skating-style track. Use of the cross-country ski track is free in Mellau, but a fee of €3 per day is due in all other resorts. The 12 km long high-altitude trail "Hochhäderich" (1,300 m - 1,400 m) is located on Reifensberg and requires a high level of condition. If you'd rather ski under a moonlit sky, use the floodlit track on Sulzberg - note that the 1.8 km long track is difficult and only suitable for experienced cross-country skiers.
