Ski holidays Hohentauern - holiday in a mountain village!

Hohentauern

In the midst of the wonderful Styrian landscape and surrounded by more than 20 'twothousanders', lies the mountain village Hohentauern. It is mainly known for its 2,000 year history as a pass crossing which was once built by the Romans. Despite the diverse offers for tourists, the mountain village which lies at 1,274 altitude, has retained its original charme. A holiday in one of Austria's most beautiful landscape conservation areas leaves nothing to be desired because Hohentauern offers something for everyone's taste.

Triebener Tauern

The Triebener Tauern are a mountain pass across the Niederen Tauern and Styria. The altitude of the pass lies at 1,274 m. While most of the crossings over the Hohen Tauern served as "mule tracks" for the traffic all the way into this century, the Triebener Tauern were already used as roads by the Romans. The Northern ramp is very steep with a gradient of 17% and the Southern ramp has many bends so that there is enough time to contemplate (at least from the passenger seat) the wonderful landscape with its rough mountains and high peaks
