Ski Area Mayrhofen & Hippach
With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 668 kilometres of piste in the ski areas of Fügen, Kaltenbach, Zell, Gerlos, Mayrhofen, Hippach, Tux, Finkenberg, and Wildkogel, which are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle (see ski region). Mayrhofen, with the action-packed mountain Penken and the pleasure skiers' mountain Ahorn gives everybody the opportunity to experience their own personal winter miracle. Besides untouched deep powder slopes, the 159 km of piste offer everything a winter sports fan may wish for: Challenging black pistes on the Penken, with the "Harakiri" a special highlight with 78% incline, as well as sunny and wide pistes for carvers, cruisers and beginners on the Ahorn. Additionally there is also the Vans Penken Park with its 5 different lines, which is also known as the hot spot for free stylers, and the White Lounge Iglu Bar, an absolute must for turning in. The whole ski area is connected by 53 lifts, including the largest gondola in Austria, the Ahornbahn! And in the combined lift system of Penken you can choose whether you'd prefer to use the gondola or chairlift. Furthermore, numerous snow making systems guarantee 100% snow in the ski area. A special highlight is the Hintertuxer glacier: It is known to be one of the best glaciers with some of the most challenging pistes in the Alps, due to its size. At 1,500 - 3,250 m altitude Austria's only whole-year ski area offers 86 km of prepared pistes, 21 modern lifts and as a highlight a 12 km long descent to the valley.
