In the heart of the Savoyard Alps, above the Tarentaise Valley and with views of the Mont Blanc, lies the gigantic “Paradiski” network. With the link to the ski area around the Bellecôte glacier (3,417 m) and the Aiguille Rouge (3,226 m) via the cable car Vanoise Express, a very impressive ski network has been created, which belongs to the largest and most diverse networks in the world! A great advantage is that the piste is usually in very close proximity to your front door. The charming resorts have been modernised over the years and radiate Savoyard charm with the many chalet style accommodations dotted around. The construction of La Plagne (Eng.: Alpine Meadows) as a ski region first began in 1960. Just one year later, the first lifts began working and in the course of the year the artificial villages were created around Plagne Centre. After beginning with these basic purpose-built buildings, the architecture began to take a new direction to smaller, nicer apartment buildings. Today there are ten stations, each with a different visage, so there is something to suit everyone. This is best observed in the evening in the cosy little lodges, as they begin to serve the local savoury dishes, and in La Plagne Centre where the party scene comes into swing. The ten stations are connected throughout the day until 1:00 am through a complimentary shuttle bus, and occasionally with gondolas.
