Viechtach

At 450 m, the spa resort Viechtach offers all holiday makers tons of sunny hours on the pistes, thanks to its fog-free location. This resort in the Bavarian Forest was first mentioned in the 11th century. Numerous surrounding castle complexes bear witness to past epochs and are all accessible. An example is the castle ruins Altnussburg, which is the largest and oldest castle complex in the Eastern Bavarian area. Bavarian Forest

The Bavarian Forest is central Europe's largest forest with 6,000 km² of wooded area. In 1970 the national park Bavarian Forest was created which, together with the Bohemian Forest, forms the largest coherent forestal nature reserve in central Europe with a total span of 900 km².
