Verbier is undoubtedly one of the highlights in the life of a skier. The Quatre Vallées ski region offers 94 lifts and 410 kilometres of piste, 270 km of which are classified as medium to steep. The 3,300 m high Mont Fort dominates the centre of the area, a mountain bearing the nickname "Peak of Enjoyment". A special highlight is the 18 km long run into the valley with a difference in altitude of over 2,500 m. Verbier is a paradise for off-piste lovers. The area lift pass "Verbier" includes 105 km of piste around Mont Fort (although not including the gondola to the peak). The valley village of Le Châble is an original Wallis settlement rather than a purpose-built ski resort.
