Ski area Gerlitzen

High above Oassiach Lake, 42 diverse piste kilometres and 11 km natural ski routes of varying difficulties away you in the ski area "Gerlitzen". No matter if you are beginner of expert, you can enjoy the runs on the sunny, wide and snow-guaranteed pistes of Gerlitzen! The efficient snow machines ensure piste quality and guarantee snow from November through to April.

This ski area in the heart of Carinthia is especially popular with families and children due to its soft and perfectly prepared slopes, which is why it has earned the "welcome beginners" seal of quality. Around the middle station, the little ones will find excellent conditions to practise and in the "children's and snow bear land", the smallest ones will also find fantastic child care. Most of the slopes are easy to intermediate and thus cater for a beginner's needs. Intermediate skiers will enjoy the 7 km valley run to Klösterle, overcoming 911 m difference of altitude. A magnificent view over the Ossiach Lake and the surrounding mountain area awaits winter sports fans along the 1 km Wörter Lake run which descends from the 2,000 m Gerlitz summit. An insider's tip for Ski cracks is the challenging Gegendtal run with its 1.7 km. Free riders and snowboarders will enjoy the natural slopes or the deep powder snow runs. For children, there is a snow park at the middle station Kanzelbahn. A 300 m flood light piste at the Bach lift guarantees fun until the late hours.

Another highlight of this ski area is the "Stella Ronda", a 360° star ski circuit, that stretches across 35 piste kilometres through the entire ski area.

Après ski Afritz am See

Whoever wants to get a head start on their après ski activities will find many options directly in the ski area. The first drink can be had in one of the quaint huts or umbrella bars. Hot spots include the "Cielo Mountain Lounge", the umbrella bar "Prinzhütte", the snow bar "ZAN 8-TA" at the Neugarten Almsee hut and the "Große Klösterle Hütt'n".

Even tobogganing fans get their money's worth in the region. In Afritz's neighbouring resort Feld am See, as well as in Bad Kleinkirchheim, several toboggan runs can be found, of which both families and ambitious tobogganers can enjoy. Whoever enjoys a ski-free, quieter afternoon and evening should take a look into the popular Carinthian Thermenwelt. The Carninthin Therme, for example around 20 km south of Afritz in Warmbad-Villach, offers thermal enjoyment with its modern, futuristic architecture. The evening sounds rather cosy in Afritz when taking a walk around the Afritz Lake Promenade or moseying through rustic inns.

Snowpark: Kids Snowpark Afritz am See

In the ski area Gerlitzen, freestylers on skis and snowboards will find a small but excellent park to have their fun. At the Klösterle section, the "Kids Park" has lots to offer, especially for beginners, with its range of obstacles.

Jumps, corners, boxes, slides and wave rides provide for the perfect start into the freeride scene. Professionals are very welcome to show off their moves on the different obstacles and the large jump.

The fast chair lift at the park is a definite advantage as waiting times are short and adrenalin junkies can keep their thrill going. Curious? Off you go to the Freestyle Paradise of the Gerlitzen.
