The Gastein ski region is part of Ski amadé and, with its approximately 181 kilometres of slopes (including ski routes) and 36 lifts, ranks among the largest and most beautiful ski resorts in the Salzburg region. Thanks to its impressive altitude (up to 2,650 m) and the large number of modern snow-making systems, excellent snow conditions usually prevail here well into spring.
Three ski areas await you in the Gastein Valley: the Dorfgastein–Großarltal and Schlossalm–Angertal–Stubnerkogel ski circuits, as well as Sportgastein. With their varied and perfectly interconnected facilities, they are sure to delight all winter sports enthusiasts. Beginners will find plenty of wide runs above Dorfgastein and on the other side of the Fulseck in the Großarltal valley, where they can ease themselves into the winter fun. From the summit station on the Fulseck, you’ll also enjoy a fantastic view of the Großglockner and the Dachstein. Sportgastein is of particular interest to advanced skiers; it is one of the highest-altitude ski resorts in the entire Ski amadé region, offering ski routes, deep-snow slopes and mogul runs – the perfect playground for experts. The ski area stretching from the Stubnerkogel to the Schlossalm is the largest contiguous ski area in the Gastein Valley and, thanks to its altitude of up to 2,300 metres, also boasts excellent snow conditions. Freestylers will find superb snow parks on the Stubnerkogel and Kreuzkogel, where experts can really show off their skills.
This large, varied ski region is also particularly well-suited to families and children. A magic carpet, playground, ski schools and a practice slope provide the ideal conditions for little ones to take their first turns, whilst families with more advanced skiers will also find plenty to enjoy thanks to the region’s numerous wide and sunny runs.
What’s more, Wi-Fi hotspots are available throughout the Gastein ski region, so you can stay in touch with friends back home during your winter holiday and start posting those first photos straight away.
