Kleinwalsertal

Along the northern rim of the Alps, in Vorarlberg, lies the Kleinwalsertal, also known as the Kleines Walsertal (small Walser valley). This high-alpine valley reaches up to 1,250 m altitude and is surrounded by the mountain ranges of the Allgäu Alps. The enclosed geographical location, makes this area only accessible via the German side of the border, via Oberstdorf. The Walserschanze is the naturals border line between Austria and Germany and the only way into the valley. Towards the south, the valley is enclosed by the Große Widderstein (2,533 m), among other peaks, which form the border to the Vorarlberger Land.

Winter sports fans will find a great selection of pistes in a total of 4 skiing mountains, in both countries.
