St. Margarethen

The municipality of St. Margarethen in the Lungau lies centrally in the Salzburg Lungau at an altitude of 1,065 m, surrounded by the Niederen Tauern in the north and the Nockbergen in the south. The traditional village is a perfect starting point for countless activities such as hikes, carriage rides and cross-country skiing excursions. Both the ski area Katschberg and the local mountain Aineck are within walking distance. Despite an increasing number of tourists, the village has remained true to itself and continues to retain its traditional charm.

Lungau

The sunny region of Lungau stretches along a high-plateau in the southern part of the Salzburger Land, and is the perfect holiday region for skiers looking for a variety of levels. Lovely ski areas, well-suited for families with children, but also for more experienced skier offer great opportunities, and an entertaining leisure time programme, are all benefits for spending a holiday in this beautiful region. The local resorts provide many sights to visit. Museums and exhibitions, castles and forts, as well as historical monuments and churches are all waiting to be visited. Besides all this, the Lungau and the adjoining Carinthian Nockberge form the seventh, and also the largest UNESCO biosphere nature reserve in Austria!
