Ski area Sonnenkopf - Klösterle

With the "SkiArlberg" lift pass, winter sports enthusiasts have a total of 300 kilometres of piste at their disposal. Thanks to the connection with the Flexenbahn, the Trittkopfbahn I and II as well as the Albonabahn II, the ski areas of St. Anton, Stuben, Zürs and Warth-Schröcken around Klösterle can be accessed seamlessly on skis or boards. This makes "SkiArlberg" the largest ski area in Austria (see ski region).

The "Sonnenkopf" ski area (1,000 - 2,300 m) gives you access to 34 kilometres of piste including ski routes, as well as 9 lifts. Favoured by the topographical location, the pistes are perfectly skiable well into spring and do not require any snowmaking equipment.

The predominantly blue and red pistes in the clearly laid out ski area are particularly suitable for families. Youngsters are in good hands in Schneemannland, where they can not only make their first turns under expert guidance, but also go tobogganing or build snowmen.

Experts will also find their challenge on the Sonnenkopf - both on and off the piste. With a length of approx. 8 km, the Vermalen descent requires a lot of stamina, and the piste into the "Bäraloch" is not for the faint-hearted: with a gradient of 64 per cent, the 800-metre-long descent is one of the steepest in Austria. Away from the piste, freeriders will not only find almost 4 km of ski routes, but the Verwall in the east and the Silbertal in the west are particularly popular among them. Among freestylers, the ski area is particularly appealing to beginners. They will find their territory in the Beginner Fun Park.

Après ski Sonnenkopf - Klösterle

Winter sports enthusiasts can experience the perfect balance between alpine tranquillity and lively après ski in Klösterle. At the end of a sunny day's skiing, you can round off the evening with a good meal in one of the cosy restaurants in the village. Directly at the Sonnenkopf valley station, you can enjoy a hot or cold drink in the popular Kelobar. Events with live acts also take place here regularly.

Instead of a lively party scene, the resorts in the Klostertal have all the more to offer away from the piste. The Sonnenkopf, for example, is not just a paradise for skiers. A 2 km-long toboggan run leads from the mountain station to the middle station. Hikers will find three winter hiking trails on the sunny high plateau, including one of the most beautiful in the whole of Vorarlberg: the path to the summit cross on the Muttjöchle (2,074 m) used to be reserved for snowshoe hikers and ski tourers. Now you can reach the peak without any equipment - and enjoy a wonderful 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains. The particularly brave are drawn to the Fallbach waterfall, where you will find the longest continuous ice route in Austria in winter. Ice climbing enthusiasts can let off steam here over a length of 700 metres.

Those who prefer a quieter experience can enjoy the silence and sea salt brine vapour in the Vorarlberg salt grotto. The grotto was blasted into the rock in Dalaas and lined with 44 tonnes of Himalayan salt.
