Cross-country Liberec
170 km
Cross-country trails (in km):
The cross-country trails around Liberec form a renowned cross-country skiing area; in fact, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held here as recently as 2009. The appeal of the region’s trails stems primarily from the Jizera Mountains Trail, a superb network of routes for skiers of all ability levels, covering a total of around 170 kilometres of trails. It can be accessed via a total of 23 entry points, including from Liberec. Once you’ve reached the "cross-country motorway", you’ll have easy access to further trails leading into the Krkonoše Mountains and on to Poland.
A sporting Nordic highlight takes place every year in Bedřichov, around 11 km from Liberec. This is where the famous Jizerská 50 takes place in January. In this major ski marathon, 5,000 amateur athletes and Nordic professionals cover a 50-kilometre route, which is also part of the Jizera Mountains Magistrale.
