Around Alpe d'Huez there are cross-country ski trails totalling 50 km in length with varying degrees of difficulty. The panoramic circuit via Poutran to l'Alpette at an altitude of 2,100 metres is very beautiful. The route leads past numerous mountain lakes through marvellous winter landscapes. Ambitious runners can choose the "Boucle des Lacs" route: The longest trail in the area reaches up to 2,100 metres above sea level and is a real challenge with its 20 km length.
