Ski holidays Châtel - fun in the snow at the gateway to the sun!
Châtel
The winter sports resort of Châtel is located at 1,191 metres in the northern Savoy Alps, close to the Swiss border. This traditional village has only developed into a real winter sports gem in recent years, but has managed to retain much of its original charm. Châtel benefits from its close proximity to the larger winter sports resorts of the Les Portes du Soleil ski area. It therefore offers fantastic winter sports opportunities, but also the peace and relaxation that many holidaymakers long for.The small wooden chalets and the numerous churches and chapels in the village characterise its character. The locals include many artists and craftsmen who sell their wares in small shops or at markets. You can immerse yourself in this traditional world at village festivals and when visiting the local shops. It is also worth visiting the spa facilities in the newly built swimming pool or the farms, which are known for their numerous natural products.
Portes du Soleil
Les Portes du Soleil is located at the French-Swiss border, south of Lake Geneva. At times of high visibility it is possible to see the nearby Mont Blanc (4,807 m), Lake Geneva, as well as the neighbouring mountain chain Dents du Midi. This extremely diverse winter sport region, in the midst of jagged mountain masses, encompasses 12 ski stations, 8 of which lie in the French high Savoyard mountains and 4 of which lie in the Swiss Valais. No matter whether looking for a quiet family-friendly village or a bustling party zone, every tourist will be satisfied. The first-class ski area - which is one of the most extensive ones worldwide with 580 km of piste - is an absolute must-see for every skier. The higher altitudes are very snow sure while the lower ones are assisted by snow canons.Travel Châtel
