Location and facilities

The comfortable Zugspitze campsite is located approx. 2.5 km from the centre of Grainau. The centre of Garmisch-Partenkirchen is about 2 km away while the ski area can be reached in approx. 3 km. Furthermore, there is a ski bus stop only approx. 50 m from the campsite. Shopping facilities are also in close proximity.

The high-quality campsite has a reception, restaurant "Schmölzer Wirt" which offers good Bavarian cuisine, Wi-Fi (availability depends on location), bistro, modern alpine spa with sauna, vinotheque, sun terrace and ski room. Free parking (upon availability) and a charging station for electric cars (for a fee) are also available.

After paying the tourist tax, you will receive the Grainau Card at the resort. This card allows you to use the Eibsee buses and the Zugspitzbahn from Grainau to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, from Grainau to the Eibsee and in the Grainau area free of charge during your stay. In addition, you can enjoy one free admission per week to the Zugspitzbad Grainau and free use of e.g. cross-country ski trails, sports programme and water gymnastics (subject to change, see information on site).

Furnishings and Board

The cosy mountain cabins are trendily furnished, offering a living and dining area, bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchen with hotplates and microwave. Furthermore, a sleeping area on a gallery and sometimes an additional bedroom on the ground floor (depending on the category booked) can be found. Costs for electricity and gas are to be paid on site according to consumption. Self-catering.

Important notes

  • No lift pass voucher is issued for children up to and including 5 years of age, they receive a free lift pass when accompanied by their parents. However, as part of a ski course, they require their own valid lift pass (payable on site, further information available at the lift ticket office).
