Ski area Region Berchtesgaden

The "Region Berchtesgaden" offers its guests six ski areas, which are combined in the same lift pass: around 49 kilometres of piste between 600 m and 1,874 m, and approx. 24 lifts can be used to your heart's desire!

The Jenner ski area is located only 1 km from Schönau, and easy to reach. The cosy pistes at Hochschwarzeck are ideal for families. The 6 km long valley run from Rossfeld to Oberau is quite leisurely and perfect for beginners (only accessible with adequate snow conditions).

The boarder scene people meet at Götschen, where you will find a boarder park with a 120 m long half-pipe. This ski area enjoys an international reputation due to its world cup runs, and as a popular host for winter sports championships in the luge, bobsledding and snowboarding! The ski area Zinken allows you to ski in neighbouring Austria. The lift pass "Region Berchtesgaden" also includes the use of the local ski buses which connect all 6 ski areas with each other and it covers the toll fee to the ski area Rossfeld. With the lift pass you can access one ski area per day.

Please note: Extensive renovation work has been taking place in the Jenner ski area since March 2017, which will continue through the 2018/19 winter season. However, a partial opening has taken place, meaning that it is possible to ski from the middle station.

Night skiing Schönau am Königssee

Those who want to head out to go night skiing on illuminated piste will find one or another night ski area to do so in Germany. Surrounding Schönau am Königsee in the Region Berchtesgaden, winter sports fans will find various ski areas that open some of their pistes for skiing at night time. The ski area Götschen opens and illuminates its approx. 1.8 km piste at the 3-person chairlift Götschenkopfbahn for night skiing every Friday from 18:00 - 21:30. Also every Friday, from 18:00 - 21:00, the approx. 1 km night ski piste at the Großer-Lift towlift is opened for night skiing. On Thursdays, one can go night skiing in the ski arena Obersalzberg.

Après ski Schönau am Königssee

Not all apres ski is the same! Along those lines, Berchtesgaden offers just the right thing for everyone: social evenings in a ski lodge are available, as are romantic evenings for two on a horse-sleigh ride. You can party in the bars or let yourself be spoilt with excellent cuisine in local restaurants. Additionally, numerous activities such as torch-lit hikes or snowshoe hikes. are available. With the lift pass Region Berchtesgaden you can also use the serpentine toboggan run at Obersalzberg which is easily reached with the gondola (depending on weather conditions). You will also receive a discount at the Watzmann-Therme thermal bath where you can relax in an area of 900 m² during various spa treatments.

Schönau offers its guests a multitude of off-piste activities: from spa and bathing fun in the indoor pool to kite flying to the numerous activities on Königssee, there is something for everyone! Moreover, Schönau is an ideal starting point for mountain tours on the Watzmann, the Reiteralpe, the Untersberg or into the Latten Mountains.

In January 2016, the tobogganing world cup took place on the artificial ice track at Königssee. Shooting down the ice channel is not only reserved for professionals: with the so called "guest bob", a kind of tub made of foam material with a PVC cover, each 3 adventurers can try out the 1.3 km track. The runs are offered from December through the end of February (depending on the weather), and they are each led by a bob professional - usually a formal world cup, European or German championship winner from a bob or luge national team.

Snowpark: Snowpark Ski- und Snowboardzentrum Götschen Schönau am Königssee

The Berchtesgadener Land offers all activity and fun sports fans the best possibilities to really let of steam. In the region, in which the "Ski and Snowboard Centre Götschen" is to be found, you practise alongside winter sports elite and copy some of their moves. Racing pistes and a snowboarder's playground with half-pipe round off the offer and tempt you to try some jumps, or dive into deep, powder snow and really enjoy yourself.

Those who rather not like to take the risk can better participate in the many ski and snowboard events in Berchtesgaden as a spectator. During spectacular races and freestyle competitions, the scene's pros and experts can prove their skills to their admirers. If you like the taste of adrenaline, then you are absolutely right here!
