Cross-country Sonnen
A sports tourism highlight is the Nordic Centre between Sonnen and Breitenberg, which turns the area into a dream landscape for cross-country skiers and skaters. In Sonnen there are several entry points to the Nordic Centre trails. The Blutwurzloipe is recommended, which contains both classic and skating sections on its 8.3 km and thus easy and more challenging passages. The start is at the Nordic Centre Breitenberg-Jägerbild and leads past the cosy Blutwurzhütte, where you can take a break.
It gets exciting at the Baptist-Kitzlinger ski jumping facility in Rastbüchl, where you can practise small and larger jumps on three hills in summer and winter. Here you can get a taste of professional air, as ski jumping pros Michael Uhrmann and Severin Freund have already trained here! Onlookers enjoy the annual jumping events and who knows, maybe you will meet one of the local pros.
