Why should you go on holiday during half term?
An obvious reason as to why you should travel during half term is due to the school holidays. For families with children who have to plan around their schedules, half term proves to be ideal. Is there a better way to spend quality time with your family than on holiday? Furthermore, during half term, the snow conditions in the ski area are expected to be perfect. Well-prepared pistes and pristine deep snow areas are waiting to be explored!Which ski regions should you consider for a holiday during half term?
During half term, several other countries, such as Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, are celebrating Carnival, which is often accompanied by festive events and especially fun après ski. Ski regions such as Zillertal, Jungfrau, and Kleinwalsertal, provide an exceptionally hilarious atmosphere. France, on the other hand, keeps things a bit more laid back: there is no Carnival celebration. What you will find, however, are great ski areas such as Les 3 Vallées, France's largest interconnected ski area, and some equally laid back areas, like Chamrousse and Valfréjus.
To sum it all up: If you're looking to relax, France will be a great choice. If it's festivities and nightlife you're after, you should definitely consider Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. What activities and events are organised in the ski areas during half term?
Thanks to Carnival, plenty of extraordinary activities and events are offered in the ski areas during half term. Tyrol counts as one of the biggest Carnival hotspots in Austria. In the areas throughout Arlberg, Zillertal, and Ischgl, a series of Carnival parades and performances with handmade masks, intricate outfits, and bright colours are organised. According to legend, the sounds of loud music and laughter chases winter away and invites spring to find its way. In and around Innsbruck, "the fifth season" is celebrated with dancing, singing, and symbolic wrestling. What should you keep in mind before deciding on a half term ski holiday?
Half term is one of the most popular skiing times of the year, and you should therefore consider booking quite a bit ahead of time in order to get the best deals available. During your trip, it would be good to remember that highways and roads will be more busy than usual, and you should plan to leave the ski area as soon as possible on the day of departure to make good time.
