Ski area Monterosa Ski
A gondola takes from Alagna to the large interconnected ski area Monterosa, whose pistes reach all the way to the neighbouring Aosta Valley. All together, the lift pass "Monterosa Ski inkl. Gletscher" offers 205 km of piste and 52 lifts. The region is known as a fantastic freeride area so it's no surprise that the slopes above Alagna are called "Freeride Paradise". Most of the pistes are red or black and there are several deep powder snow possibilities. The ski area is most of all attractive for intermediate skiers. The "Punta Indren" run covering an altitude difference of 2,000 m is a real thrill.
But there's also plenty to do for families and children. Not far from the village centre of Alagna there is a baby snowpark with two blue pistes as well as several children's areas, blue pistes and a time measuring run as well as a floodlit piste near Gressoney, which make for a great skiing experience for everyone. If you don't want to venture out on your own, a mountain guide can be hired locally. Freeride and heli-skiing can also be booked. The Monterosa Ski Tour is certainly recommendable for experienced skiers to get to know the entire area. The signposted route leads from Alagna to Champoluc and connects the three valleys in both directions. Thanks to snowparks, boardercross and many other freeride possibilities, the Monterosa massif is also very popular with snowboarders.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.
Après ski Alagna Valsesia
The valley is a little built-up area and thus offers an untouched winter landscape, ready to be explored by winter sports fans. The area is perfect for cross-country skiing, snow shoe hikes or a lovely walk. You could have a stroll along the Sesia river towards the South leading you to the neighbouring village Riva Valdobbia, where the Ice Rosa Ring can be found. On this icy kart track, exciting races take place. The Sesia river branches out several times creating a number of waterfalls, which freeze making majestic ice pillars in the winter. Hobby climbers can have a go at ice climbing here.
In the evening, a variety of inns and restaurants in the village make for good places to enjoy the Valaisan goats cheese with a glass of Piemont wine. There's always something going on in the Freerider Pub as well, which is a mix of restaurant and bar where burgers and hash browns are served to please international guests. Later on, après ski parties are organised now and again.

Snowpark: Funpark Gabiet & Funpark Sarezza Alagna Valsesia
The ski area Monterosa has two snowparks on offer: firstly, there is the funpark Gabiet, which lies above Stafal and measure 300 m in length. A chair lift particularly designated for this park takes you up to where 14 rails, six jumps up to 15 m, two table jumps and two fun boxes await. Beginners can have a careful go in the Beginner Area. Just above Champoluc at the Alpe Ostafa, the second funpark Sarezza can be located with a 4 m rainbow kid, a half tube (6 m), several rails, a 4 m wall as well as 8 kickers with different heights.
