Ski holidays La Thuile – versatile ski holidays in the Aosta Valley!

La Thuile

La Thuile is a Italian municipality in the Aosta Valley and is located around 1,450 m away from the mountain pass Piccolo San Bernardo, built by Napoleon III. This pass connects the French Tarentaise with the Aosta Valley. Around 800 residents live in the former coal and silver mining village, the history of which can still be seen today: the ruins of the mine workers' quarters, the tracks of the rails, as well as the entrance to the tunnels are easily reached on various hikes.

La Thuile has since become a true ski paradise, particularly for families. Its location amidst the Mont Blanc and the Testa del Rutors, home to some of the most powerful waterfalls in the Alps, is ideal. The thick woods, high mountains and the impressive glacier surrounding the valley offer a remarkable panorama and provide the ideal conditions for either a relaxed or an active winter sports holiday amongst nature. It is not only beginners that get their money's worth here, as ski pros can also find diverse pistes on the "Little St. Bernard pass". Recently the World Cup women's race in the downhill and Super-G disciplines took place in La Thuile. This proves once more that the slopes can be skied at good speeds.

Mont Blanc

The Mont Blanc massif is located between France and Italy and forms the highest point in Europe with a height of 4,809 m. The "white giant" is one of the most visited sights in the world and is a centre for fans of all sorts of winter sports.

Stretched out on the southern side you will find the oldest and most well-know winter sports region in the Alps: the ski area Courmayeur. Alongside a particularly high reliability for snow, the ski area Courmayeur also offers diverse and demanding pistes and deep snow terrain at heights up to 3,400 m! Especially freeriders and snowboarders will find their paradise on the black slopes of Mont Blanc, with the "Competizione" run offering the greatest challenge.

When upgrading to the "Mont-Blanc Unlimited" lift pass, you will gain access to around 870 kilometres of pistes, spread across 10 ski areas and 3 countries; France, Italy and Switzerland. There are diverse pistes for beginners as well as advanced skiers. Particularly the long valley runs, copious deep snow, fun-cross areas and a lot more will make freerider's hearts beat faster.

Besides the pistes, various inviting restaurants with Italian and international cuisine can be found in the Aosta Valley. Diverse shops in the shopping streets make for a good place to go for a wander and, for those who would like to, the night can be partied away in the various well-known bars or clubs.
