Ski holidays St. Leonhard in Val Passiria/Passeiertal - Versatile winter fun on the Jaufen Pass!
St. Leonhard im Passeiertal
The village of St. Leonhard in Val Passiria/Passeiertal lies at an altitude of 693 metres in the heart of the Texelgruppe Nature Park. Shielded by mountain ranges, the valley is only open towards Merano/Meran and the valley villages are therefore best reached from there via the Val Passiria/Passeiertal road. The municipality comprises several small villages, with St. Leonhard being the lively main town. The town's most famous son is the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer, thanks to whom there are several historical sights to discover here that are linked to the life of the folk hero: Hofer was baptised in the parish church of St. Leonhard, he hid from the French on the Pfandler Alm and the French cemetery is located on the central Andreas-Hofer-Straße. The Passeier Museum dedicates a permanent exhibition to his hero, and the Sandwirt restaurant was once the house where Hofer was born. The listed Sandhof farm is located just south of the village and, like the Jaufenburg castle above the village, is part of the museum's open-air grounds.Quiet, relaxation, beautiful nature and a lively history are the order of the day in St. Leonhard. For sporting activities in addition to winter sports, there is a large SportArena Passeier, where you can enjoy climbing, bowling, kickboxing, tennis and beach volleyball.
Province of Bolzano
In the Southern Alps, embedded in midst of the beautiful Dolomites and the Sarentino, lies the province Bolzano. The region is known as the melting pot of the Austrian, German and Italian cultures and offers a broad and diverse entertainment offer for its guests. The proximity to the surrounding ski areas, as well as the good tourism infrastructure make this region one of the most popular travel destinations. Panorama winter walking trails lead across a high plateau, so you have the chance to enjoy the fresh air and crunchy snow also if you are not actively on the piste. The many cosy huts attract their guests with lovely sun terraces.Travel St. Leonhard im Passeiertal
