Cross-country Val di Fiemme (Dolomites)
The "birthplace of cross-country-skiing", as the Val di Fiemme is often called, is a total paradise for all those who enjoy cross-country skiing. It is not for nothing that it has twice been the venue for the nordic skiing world championship! The traditional Marcialonga race, the international cross-country race which runs through more than 70 km of the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, has taken place here for the last 30 years. The area includes over 150 kilometres of cross-country track in total. Very challenging, yet snow- sure are the cross-country tracks at high-altitude at Lavazèpass at 1,800m. The world championship stadium of 1991 and 2003 is situated at Lago di Tesero with 9 tracks at length of more than 43 km and equipped with a snow machine. Those ambitious cross country skiers can purchase the Trentino Nordic lift pass, which is valid for nine cross-country centres (among others Madonna di Camiglio, Lago di Tesero) and also offers over 300 km of cross-country trails and access to various services
