Cross-country Kössen

Information on cross-country skiing

121 km Cross-country trails (in km):

The cross-country ski trails in Kaiserwinkl are very popular and have rightly been awarded the Tyrolean cross-country ski trail seal of approval. On a network of 240 km of trails (121 km classic-style and 119 km skating-style), cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find numerous routes for both classic and skating styles. There are around 121 kilometres of cross-country trails around the Hochkössen ski area.

The longest and most challenging cross-country trail is the Kaiserwinkel trail. This 23-kilometre circuit connects the holiday resorts of Kössen, Walchsee and Schwendt. The village trails in Schwendt and Walchsee, which are between 2 and 3 km long, are more leisurely. At 5.5 and 9 kilometres in length, the Hochauloipe in Kössen offers an intermediate level for those with some cross-country skiing experience and fitness.

Other beautiful cross-country trails in the region are the Griesenau trail near Schwendt, the Seeloipe trail around Lake Walchsee (8 km) or the Miesberg trail (approx. 13 km).

The highlight of the cross-country season is the Koasalauf (Tyrolean: Kaiserlauf), which takes place every year on the 2nd weekend in February: Around 2,000 cross-country skiers put their poles in each other's hands at this popular cross-country skiing event every year!
