Après ski Dachstein West

After skiing, you are not ready to put your legs up yet, but want to discover even more of the beautiful nature? Then winter hikes are just the thing for you. The variety of large and small winter hiking trails in and around Obertraun leaves nothing to be desired. The route along the Traun, also known as the "Koppen-Runde", is particularly beautiful: In the idyllic Koppenwinkel, the route runs alongside the snow-covered river landscape. Winter hikers can additionally enjoy a fantastic view over Obertraun, Lake Hallstatt and the snow-covered peaks of the surrounding mountains from the Obertraun high trail. Both of these routes can be easily combined in a 2-3 hour tour.

In addition to that, the "5 fingers" viewing platform, which floats 500 m above the abyss like a hand, also provides breathtaking views. The bridges are designed in different ways, one for example, is made entirely of glass and the other has a baroque frame on which you can take a nice souvenir photo in front of the backdrop.

A detour to the giant ice cave in the Dachstein is also very worthwhile. During a guided tour through the fascinating cave world you can see the ice and rock formations from close up. Light and sound shows illuminate the stalactites in all possible colours. An experience for the whole family!

At the "Höllwirt" (guesthouse), traditional fish specialities are served in a family atmosphere, while guests can enjoy the fantastic view of the Krippenstein Additionally, in the Dachstein Krippenstein mountain restaurant at an altitude of 2,100 m, you can enjoy regional delicacies and a panoramic view of the Dachstein glacier.
