Ski area Galibier Thabor

With the "Galibier Thabor" lift pass, you have a choice of 30 lifts and pistes with a total length of 160 km. The fifth largest ski area in Savoie comprises the villages of Valloire, Valmeinier 1500 and Valmeinier 1800.

Above the pretty mountain village of Valmeinier, endless snow slopes spread out on Le Gros Crey with fantastic pistes for carving and wide routes for beginners and leisure skiers, while the mountainside on the opposite side is barely developed and offers fantastic opportunities for deep snow skiing. Snowboarders will find a daily groomed snow park at Crey du Quart near Valloire with various elements for beginners and advanced skiers as well as a boardercross course. The altitude of the ski area - 70 per cent is above 2,000 m - and more than 700 snow cannons guarantee the greatest possible reliability of snow.

But the ski area also has plenty to offer families. Dodge the numerous obstacles in the "Valkid" or get your turns in while snow tubing.

Want even more variety? The village of Orelle, approx. 23 km away, is the perfect gateway to the huge "3 Vallées" ski area, the largest connected ski area in the world.

Night skiing Galibier Thabor

Night skiing is an established favourite on the slopes in many places in France. The versatile Galibier Thabor ski area also offers night skiing in the evening. The small, fine night skiing area is located on the valley side of Valmeinier and invites you to ski outside of the daily operating hours. A 600 metre long piste in the Valmeinier 1800 district is floodlit. The Pré Aynard 4-seater chair lift takes you up to 1,949 metres, from where the red-marked descent leads to the valley station. This means that the piste ends practically right in front of the pubs and bars there. Night skiing only takes place on a few selected dates during the season. Further information is available on site.

Après ski Galibier Thabor

The pub scene in Valloire is not quite as varied as the range of winter sports on offer, but is nevertheless remarkable. At the "La Mafayo" bowling centre, you can not only enjoy a quiet game of bowling or billiards, but also have a chat over a lively cocktail. Concerts are occasionally played in the pub "Le Bar à Zing" and the alternative café "Mast'Rock". A good sip of beer is also part of the après ski experience. As small as the village of Valloire is, it has its own brewery – the highest in France, no less. Brewed with glacier water, the already delicious "Galibier" high-altitude beer tastes even fresher. Every Friday, the beer is tasted and sold directly at the brewery.

Valmeinier is a tranquil place where quality is more important than size. The cosy huts are therefore somewhat smaller than elsewhere and delicious regional dishes are served instead of goulash soup. After skiing, numerous sun terraces and cafés right by the piste invite you to enjoy après ski. In the evening, you can choose between various bars, restaurants, a cinema and a disco.

After skiing and partying, you can always relax in the sauna, Turkish steam bath and jacuzzi at the "Le Val'Form" fitness centre. Valloire and Valmeinier also offer numerous events and outdoor activities: snowshoe tours, dog sledding, Segway rides in the snow, ice skating or paragliding - there's something for everyone here!

Snowpark Galibier Thabor: Snowpark du Lac de la Vieille

The "Snowpark du Lac de la Vieille" awaits you in the Galibier Thabor ski area. Located on the Crey du Quart, the park is next to the "Chateau Ripaille" lift at an altitude of 2,200 m to 2,400 m, almost exactly between Valmeinier and Valloire. The park has pretty much everything a freestyler's heart desires. A wide variety of rails and kickers in four difficulty levels - blue, green, red and black - allow every rider to develop their skills. The size of the zones and the number of elements adapt to the snow conditions over the course of the season.
