Ski area Plan de Corones

The Plan de Corones mountain (2,275 m) and the skiing area of the same name are only 30 minutes away from the idyllic Valle di Casies. Varied downhill runs on 119 km of pistes, 32 state-of-the-art lifts and wonderful views of the fascinating mountain world of the Dolomites make the Plan de Corones ski area one of the most popular ski areas in South Tyrol. 52 km of blue, 42 km of red and 25 km of black pistes lie between 973 m and 2,275 m and offer plenty of variety. Whether beginners, experts, freestylers or families - here everyone will find what they are looking for. The area is usually open from December to April. More than 200 snow-making machines ensure a high level of snow safety and make valley descents with good snow conditions possible. The multifaceted sports and leisure offer around Plan de Corones as well as the cheerful après ski provide a lot of fun even off-piste.

With its numerous easy to medium-difficulty slopes, the Plan de Corones ski area is ideally suited to beginners and families with children. In the lovingly designed children's countries of the "Croniworld" the little snow lovers learn their first turns in a playful way. Advanced skiers and snowboarders have the opportunity to switch to the more demanding descents. On the steep passages of the two valley runs "Herregg" and "Sylvester", each about 7 km long, experienced winter sports enthusiasts can prove their technique. The "Hernegg" descent overcomes around 1,300 metres in altitude and in places reaches a gradient of approx. 60%. This makes it one of the steepest slopes in South Tyrol and very popular among experienced skiers and snowboarders. Freestylers also get their money's worth in the ski area in the two fun parks.

The "Dolomiti Superski" ski pass can be upgraded for a manageable surcharge. With the "Dolomiti Superski" ski pass, skiers and snowboarders can explore 1,200 kilometres of pistes and a total of 450 lifts in twelve ski areas.

By the way: snow-lovers will also find a "mini ski area" at an altitude of around 1,400 m directly in Valle di Casies, in St. Magdalena. Two downhill runs and one lift, including ski rental and ski school: the "Berglift St. Magdalena" is the perfect place for families and beginners to get a taste of winter sports. Another ski lift for children, beginners and families is located in Pichl in the Gsieser Valley.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Night skiing Valle di Casies

Heads up, night owls! Directly in Valle di Casies, at the "Berglift St. Magdalena" in St. Magdalena, there is regular night skiing under floodlight. There is also a wide range of floodlit pistes in the Kronplatz ski area, about 30 km away. Gliding over the glittering snow under a starry sky, with slight turns - definitely an unforgettable experience. If you haven't had enough after an exciting day on the slopes, you shouldn't miss it. In the skiing area Kronplatz the slopes "Korer", "Cianross", "Terenten" and "Guggenberg" are opened on different evenings of the week. The slopes are specially prepared for the night ski experience and floodlit. Toboggan lovers will also get their money's worth here, as the two slopes "Korer" and "Cianross" can also be used as a night toboggan run.

Après ski Valle di Casies

Winter travellers who, after a strenuous day on the slopes, are still in the mood for an exuberant atmosphere with the latest après ski hits will find numerous bars and clubs around the Kronplatz ski area that invite you to sing and dance along. South Tyrol's longest bar in a rustic ambience can be found, for example, in the "Tenne", right next to the piste in Reischach. Après ski lovers should also plan a visit to the "K1 Après-Ski". Party guests cavort on two floors until late into the night.

In addition to the lively après ski at Plan de Corones, winter holidaymakers will also find a varied sports and leisure programme in Valle di Casies. How about a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered Valle di Casies? From the Talschlusshütte hut in St. Magdalena, you can ride majestic Noriker horses through the crunching snow.

Sporting nature-lovers can explore numerous winter hiking trails in Valle di Casies after an exciting day of skiing. Enjoy winter hikes through snow-covered woods and meadows, followed by a meal of home-style food by the alpine farmers. A recommendable destination is for example the Uwaldalm, situated in the Valle di Casies village of St. Magdalena and famous for its regional culinary specialities.

In addition to numerous natural toboggan runs on the slopes of Valle di Casies, the Kronplatz ski area also offers wonderful toboggan runs, such as the "Cianross" at the valley station of the same name. With the lift it goes comfortably up the mountain then the toboggan fun can begin.

Snowpark: Snowpark Kronplatz Valle di Casies

The region around Valle di Casies has a lot to offer for the freestylers among the winter holidaymakers. In the skiing area Kronplatz, approx. 30 km away, there are two snow parks with a wide selection of kickers and boxes. One park is situated at an altitude of 2,230 m between the "Belvedere" and "Plateau" pistes. Here beginners can let off steam on the Easy-Line on kickers between 1 and 3 m high. For advanced aerial acrobats there are two kickers with tables with two jumps each and a rail line. The "Korer Park" is located on the "Korer" piste near the "Bruneck/Reischbach" valley station and offers beginners and experts many different boxes and a sliding tube. Freestylers often meet here at a later hour because the fun park is floodlit on Saturday evenings.
