For cross-country skiers in and around Vernago, it's all about the altitude. Depending on the weather and snow cover, you'll find trail between 5 and 10 km in length on the glacier (3,050 m) and a 2 km long trail on the Lazaunhütte (2,450 m).
Due to the spectacular conditions thanks to the altitude, these high-alpine trails are often used by various national teams for training. With enough snow, a 3 km trail can be ridden down into the valley near Unser Frau - combined with a winter hiking trail.
